The number of users installing Arlo wireless security cameras in their houses is increasing day by day and so do their happy experiences. But, it never means that users face no issues while using the camera. Some complaints have been reported regarding the Ultra 2 camera brought in by Arlo. Out of which one went like this – I installed 4 Ultra 2 cameras at an event barn on 2 hubs. Suddenly, 3 out of the Arlo Ultra 2 cameras stopped connecting. I tried every possible technique but to no avail.
If you are also struggling with a similar kind of situation, then it might have happened due to some reasons. What are those reasons? Let us help you discover.
As mentioned earlier the user has done Arlo camera setup for multiple cameras using two SmartHubs, the problem might have shown up due to improper distances. Perhaps, all your Ultra 2 cameras are far from their respective hubs. Arlo cameras indeed operate on a 2.4GHz frequency band that offers long range.
But, you cannot expect any of your cameras to connect if it is placed outside the signal range of the hub. Thus, the major thing you need to do is to minimize that gap separating your Arlo Ultra 2 cameras and their corresponding SmartHubs. If the connectivity issue still does not retreat, you can check out other reasons given below. For your knowledge, the major reasons are related to the camera and hub placement. Therefore, you need to spend most of your time adjusting the location of your networking and security hardware.
Maybe you have placed all your wireless security cameras too close due to which the connectivity issue is there. Ideally, there should be a gap of at least 10ft between two security cameras no matter whether you own an Ultra 2 camera or some other model. Moreover, some security cameras with advanced night-vision technology have a 100ft range. Thus, a few security features get affected if a proper distance is not maintained. For example, vision range gets affected due to distortion in the camera’s focal length.
DO NOT place your Arlo Ultra 2 cameras to close. Try to maintain a gap of 10-15 between all security cameras. This way, their performance will not be impacted and each of them will be able to connect to the respective hub easily.
Are you sure that all the hubs are connected to the main gateway (router)? Consider checking the connection right away. Perhaps, the cameras connected to the disconnected hub are unable to function well. This can also prevent you from completing the Arlo camera login and managing the camera. After having a good look at the connection between your Arlo SmartHubs and WiFi router, consider performing the required workaround. FYI, it will be related to the LAN connection between your networking hardware.
If the ETHERNET CABLE connecting your router to the SmartHub is found damaged, you should REPLACE it right away. Besides, consider making the connection FINGER-TIGHT. Loose cable connections related to the camera do not tend to help you with home security.
There is a possibility that an unexpected error has occurred due to which some of your Arlo Ultra 2 cameras stopped connecting. Don’t worry! It happens to all of us. This is a digital world and 90% of networking and security gadgets fall victim to technical errors once in their lifetime. This time, they are your Ultra 2 security cameras. Thus, you should look forward to getting rid of these errors.
Try RESTARTING the entire NETWORK and SECURITY SYSTEM. It means you will have to perform a complete power cycle of the router, hub, and all of your Arlo cameras. Starting from the router, power down each device in the same sequence as they are mentioned, and power them up after a gap of 10 minutes. Lastly, try reconnecting the cameras.
Several Arlo Ultra 2 cameras might be disconnecting due to their improper distances from each other which needs to be increased. However, you should also take care of the gap separating your cameras and hubs. It must not be too much. And, if that also fails to resolve the problem for you, you are suggested to go for the power cycle of the home network and security system. It will surely work in your favor.
But, you should also know how to reset Arlo Ultra 2 cameras and set them up from scratch. Because you will be left with no other troubleshooting tips if you fail to execute the connection process in every attempt. The camera can be re-installed with the Arlo setup app or the my.arlo.com login URL. You can pick the easiest method to go about the process!
